What Is The Meaning Of Initiative

How many times at work have you heard your Leader/Supervisor say to you, you need to take more Initiative?

What is the Definition of Initiative? Well in the workplace it means to take Action and start doing a task/job just because it needs to be done, without having to be told By your Supervisor.

Here are a couple of examples using Initiative in the workplace.

  • Perhaps you found a faster more efficient way to increase production which will improve the business.

  • Or maybe you have an Idea of a new product line that the Company could Capitalize on or offer as a service.

But I am not here to talk about your job. I am here to talk to you about your Life.

This Website is about Motivation and Inspiration

So, Therefore, I don't want to talk about Initiative in the workforce. I want to talk about using your Initiative in Life. First off what is another word for Initiative? There are several. Action, Drive, Ambition, and Hustle to name a few.

Which one are you?

You may ask yourself why am I talking to you about Initiative and why is it so important. The answer to that is. If you are looking for any amount of success, you have to be one of those people who make things happen.
You cannot just sit around (Those who watch things happen) and Hope, Pray and wait for success, to occur; or wait for someone to tell you what to do and how to do it. It doesn't work that way! You have got to take the Initiative to do things for yourself. Those-Who-Watch-Things-Happen
How often do we sit around doing absolutely nothing but complain about life wishing things were different? Nothing in life will ever change without you taking the Initiative.
Don't be one of those people who wonder what happened!
You have to draw the line in the sand somewhere and say, Enough! I am tired of this Mediocre Life! I want Something More, Something Better!

Taking Initiative is a call to Action

Taking Initiative is a call to Action; it is being Self-Motivated and taking that first step in changing your life for the better.
How would your life change if instead of sitting around, wishing things would be different you decided to take the Initiative and the Action to create a business of some kind and make things different instead of just wishing? Think about it.
You are probably saying to yourself. This man is an idiot. What kind of business can I create? The answer is unless you are willing to take the Initiative and Take Action Absolutely None!
"Success comes from taking the initiative and following up persisting eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?" By Tony Robbins

Examples taking Initiative

I will give you a couple of examples in my personal life where I took Initiative. I am Passionate about a lot of things, but I have three major ones.
  • I am Passionate about Natural Alternatives to Health Care.

I have studied and have become proficient in a Technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and I have spent hundreds of hours researching Natural ways of treating most all of the primary Health Problems. I then started a side business in my hometown (A New Beginning) where I make a little extra income while still working a full-time job.I-Can't-Wait-To-Be-My-Own-Boss
  • I am a Life Coach, and Passionate about Motivational, Inspirational, and Self-Help books. I have read Hundreds of these types of books, and this is my Purpose for Creating this Website. It is my wish to share with all of you the Knowledge I have learned over the years; to help you to Transform your lives so you may live out your Passions and Dreams.

  • This one I will tell you about later once we have gotten to know each other better.

"Hold up a mirror and ask yourself what you are capable of doing, and what you really care about. Then take the initiative – don't wait for someone else to ask you to act." By Sylvia Earle

Don't you Ever Get Tired of Working for Someone Else?

Does your job ever make you feel like pulling your hair out? I know mine does, but I am taking the Initiative to try and build a successful business for myself so that I don't have to answer to anyone but me. Whether I succeed or fail is up to me and how much effort and time I am willing to put into it. I Accept and take full Responsibility for my Actions.
What are some things you are Passionate about that maybe you could Transform into a Business of some Kind? Just Think About It For A While! Then Take The Initiative To Make It Come True!

How To Gain More Confidence In Yourself

How to gain more confidence in yourself. I would say the best way is to stop depending on other people to solve your problems whatever they may be. It is ok to ask for advice about something you know nothing about, but the bottom line is you need to learn for yourself what it takes to fix whatever problem you are dealing with at the moment.

Example: Let's say that you have a plumbing problem, and know nothing about plumbing. There are a lot of DIY books you could read up on and learn to fix the leak yourself instead of paying a plumber to do it for you or with today's internet you could find a YouTube Video on the subject of repairing leaky pipes.

Are you going to do a professional job? Maybe not! But the important thing you will have learned a new skill. If you ever have to fix a leaky pipe again, you will do a better job the next time around because of the Knowledge you have gained yourself. Therefore, you gain more self-confidence. But you will never know if you can fix the problem or not unless you try.
Step outside of your comfort zone just once and give it a try. What is the worst thing that can happen? You Failed! Is it a life or death situation that you failed? Is the world going to come to an end because of it? I think not! I have failed a bunch in my life, but the only difference is I don't look at it as failures because of what I learned along the way I can do better and so can you. I just have to continue learning and so do you. Knowledge is Power!
The above example works for nearly everything in life. Just like it says on a shampoo bottle just wash, rinse, and repeat. The more you do this, the more self-confidence you gain. Wash-Rinse-And-Repeat

Self Confidence Meaning

What does it mean to be self-confident? It means you trust your abilities to be able to conquer any problems that arise in life. It means you will find the way to overcome any obstacles or challenges if you, believe you can.
Having Self-Confidence is not the same thing as being Arrogant, though; some people mistake the two I don't know why. Self-Confidence is an inward positive emotion or feeling that you don't have to brag about you just know you can handle whatever comes your way. Arrogance is more of an outward negative emotion that you have to brag about everything you do to make yourself seem superior to someone else.
“Because one believes in oneself, one doesn't try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn't need others' approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.”
By Lao Tzu
Here is a definition of Self-Confidence and also one on Arrogance.

How to Find Self Confidence

How to find Self-Confidence. As I explained in the example above the more you, learn to depend on yourself for the answers to your problems the more Self-Confidence you gain.
The very first thing I always ask myself every time I tackle a new issue. What is the worst that can happen? The truth is I might make a mistake. Big deal! I learn what I can from it, and then I move on. If the same issue arises again, I will be able to do it better next time. So we make mistakes! That's a part of Life; Learning from our mistakes.
“Believe you can and you're halfway there.”
By Theodore Roosevelt

What is the Definition of Purpose

I know that you were probably just like me as a child when I was somewhere between the ages of nine or ten; I remember being off by myself somewhere contemplating life. I know I asked God this question a million times. What is the Purpose of my Life?

Well if you were anything like me you probably never got an answer or at least not one that you understood. But now that I am older and hopefully a little bit wiser I think I know the answer to the question.
God gave us free will to decide what our purpose in life is; he didn't want to choose for us he wanted us to figure it out for ourselves. Our Creator gave each of us as individuals different talents which we can choose as our purpose in life.

  • Maybe you love to sing, and you can bring joy to many people with your voice.
  • Maybe you're an artist, and you can bring beauty to the world with your paintings/drawings.
  • Maybe you're an inventor, and you can help people with your inventions.
  • Etc.
There is something special about each and every one of us that we could use as our purpose in life. What is your hidden talent? Don't tell me you haven't gotten one because it could be anything that you are good at doing. If you don't know the answer, ask a friend or a loved one what they think you are good at, and they will probably tell you all kinds of things you wouldn't even have considered. The-World-is-in-the-Palm-of-your-HandJust think about it; the world is in the palm of your hand.
Purpose can have many different meanings. But I am talking about life's purpose. In my opinion, we are to take those God-given talents we have and use them to bring Joy, Peace, Happiness, Love, Pleasure, and Laughter to the rest of the world to do a service to humanity. That is my definition.
“You were never created to live depressed, defeated, guilty, condemned, ashamed or unworthy. We were created; to be victorious.”
― Joel Osteen
There is an excellent book by Author Rick Warren called The Purpose Driven Life.
I think you would enjoy reading it.

When Purpose Meets Destiny

When you find your purpose in life, (your hidden talent) learn to develope it and become an expert in your field. Then as you become an expert share the knowledge that you have learned to help someone else on their journey in life. We are all teachers, and we all have something of value to contribute to the world. Share-The-Knowledge-You-Have-Learned
Here are a few quotes that I think are very relevant.
“The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give your gift, away.”
By: David Viscott
“When your purpose and passion are in alignment, your work becomes your calling, your life becomes your dream, and your mindset becomes 20/20 in clarity.”
By: Farshad Asl
"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Key Success Book

Key success book. There are a lot of excellent books that cover this very topic. Napoleon Hill has one of my  Key-Success-Bookfavorite books titled The Law of Success in which he characterizes the attributes in what he thinks it takes to become. successful, and I would have to say that I agree with him. I will cover a few of them.

I can think of a few reasons why a person might have a Purpose for Success; you might like to have lots of Money, get out of Debt, buy a new Car/House, take nice Vacations, help other family members out, Medical Bills, or you might just hate your current Job.   I-Hate-My-Job

What is the Definition of Success?

The Definition of Success According to Webster's Dictionary, which I will let you read for yourself. merriam-webster.com/dictionary/success
The Truth, Success can be defined in many different ways, and it's not all about Money. You can be Successful at being a Mother/Father, in Health/Fitness, Friend/Neighbor, and so many other things.
So don't Define Success in just a Monetary Value. But if you are reading this post I think that it would be a safe bet to say you are thinking about Money. So with Money in mind here is a list of a few Habits of Successful People.

What are some Success Habits?

Here is just a small list of some Success Habits; I am sure that you can add to this list.

  • Get a Good Nights Sleep
  • Get up Early and Plan out your Day.
  • Do the Things First that you Hate the Most.
  • Try to Eat a Good Breakfast.
  • Feed your Mind by Reading Good Books.
  • Don't be Lazy.
  • Don't be afraid to take some Risks.
  • Look for Solutions instead of Focusing on Problems.
  • Time Management
  • Don't Procrastinate

What are some Success Principles?

People who are Successful are usually always Grateful and try to Live in a State of Appreciation with what they have Achieved. They Surround Themselves with other Like Minded People. They have a Clear Vision of what it is they are trying to Accomplish, and they always set Goals for Themselves.
People who are Successful are usually very Focused and Determined in finding a way to get what they want. They Prepare Themselves and just as soon as they have Determined what their Goal is they take Immediate Action towards Achieving that Goal. They are always Life Learners.
Can Failure Lead to Success?
It would probably be safe to say that the Majority of Successful People has Failed more times than the average person, but the difference is they don't look at it as Failures they learn from their mistakes, and they Adjust/Adapt. But they are so Focused and Determined that they will eventually create success; and you can too. What did Thomas Edison say about failure?
There is a Poem on my wall by my computer desk that I have read many times for Inspiration. In fact, every time my boys told me that they couldn't do something I always made them read it out loud. I want to share it with you.
If you think, you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't
It is almost certain you won't.
If you think, you'll lose you've lost.
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think, you are outclassed, you are.
You've got to think high to rise;
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

Best Motivational Speakers Ever

How are you Living your Life?

Hello everyone; I have read a lot of self-help books over the years, and they all have at least one thing in common, and one of the greatest inventors in history said it best.
Albert Einstein said “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” What does this mean to you when you think about what that quote says?
What it means to me is that life is about choices, and we can choose to look at it either way. If you are not living the life that you want to live and not following your passions, and your dreams; then you choose to look at life as though nothing is a miracle.

What excuses do you use?
We are human, and we all make excuses as to why we can't do something.
  • I have bills to pay.
  • When I get out of debt.
  • When the kids get older.
  • I'm too busy.
  • I don't have time.

I am sure that you can add to this list and please do I would like to hear your comments.
I'm not telling you that it is easy, but We are only here for an uncertain amount of time before we journey to the next life and then it is too late.

So stop making excuses!

I am positive that you can find a few hours a day to work on following your passions. Maybe watch a little less T.V., Spend a little less time seeing what everyone is up to on Facebook, and take that time to figure out what it is that you want and then take one step at a time and before you know it you will be living your dreams.    Time-to-make-a-plan
Excuses be Gone; is the title of a book by one of my favorite authors who recently passed away. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer may he rest in peace.

Highly Motivated People

The individuals who are living their dreams and following their passions decide to look at life as though everything is a miracle. They are Highly Motivated.
Most all successful people are all readers of books, they are lifetime learners and are always educating themselves. If you see them sitting around, they are usually focusing and trying to figure out a better way to achieve their goals and dreams.
How many times have you heard yourself say something about another person; man he/she is so lucky they have a great job, a beautiful home, nice car, and take great vacations, that I can only dream about?

Limiting Beliefs

What if I told you that it‘s not all your fault, that you are not living out your dreams. Let me explain what I mean. When you were a child growing up people, put writings on your walls. (in our heads, or our subconscious minds.) Our parents, teachers, friends, and anyone that we came into contact with; Then you were taught what you could or could not do.
So we all make excuses for why we can’t do something because; you have to consult the writings on your walls to see what you learned as a child. That my friends is what is called a limiting belief; making excuses because of what we were taught as children.   What-Are-The-Writings-On-Your-Walls What is the writing on your walls

  • Money doesn't grow on trees.
  • We can't afford this/that.
  • Do I look like I'm made of money!
  • You're not smart enough
  • You're not good enough
  • You're not pretty enough
  • You're too fat
  • You're too skinny
  • etc.

What are some that you can add to this list?
Please leave a reply in the comments section.
But here is the part that most of us don’t understand, now that you are an adult; you can change those writings on your walls to whatever makes sense to you. I grew up without a father, and I came from a family without money, but I choose to live my life as though it is a miracle and a blessing. It is all about how you look/think about things.

I will give you a couple of examples.

Some people at work and I were talking about the frost on our car windshields during winter. One person said something about pouring warm water on his windshield to melt the ice. I said you don't want to do that because hot water freezes faster than cold and besides it might crack your windshield.
An older gentleman said hot water doesn't freeze faster than cold. Well, I consulted the writings on my wall, and they stated that it does; because that is what I learned as a child. Then I thought about it and became unsure because I had never tested that theory personally.
It turns out that I was right, but it was a reminder to me to question and find out for myself the truth. Because believe it or not. Not everything that you learn as a child is the truth.
I went to a seminar one time, mostly out of curiosity; but I was talking to this one lady that was in the class and she looked at me and said; you must be rich.
I almost laughed in her face, but instead, I said to her that it depends on your definition of being rich.
I told her that if you are talking in monetary terms, then I am probably the brokest person in this class. (considering most of the folks in the class were doctors, chiropractors, and professional people.)

But I have some of the best friends, and family in the world, that would do anything for me; and that my health was fantastic, I have a decent job and a great spiritual connection with our Creator. So yes, I am rich!
She looked at me and then she said, I never thought about it that way; you should be teaching this class. (What a beautiful  compliment) I was blown away by her remark. Here was a group of people that probably made more money in one year than I make in three or four; but she had never thought about it that way before.

Not everybody’s definition of being rich is the same. It is all in how you choose to think and look at life.
Our Creator gave us free will to decide, what we believe or don’t believe; the choice is yours, and only you can change the way you think, and look at things as well as what you believe.
I hope that all of you have enjoyed this topic, and I hope that I made you take a closer look at yourself, and think a little different about what you can do, and how you look at life.
We are never too old to learn unless we are dead.
Thomas Edison said (“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”)
If you enjoyed this post, or even if you didn’t;  please leave a comment good or bad, I would enjoy reading them; or if you have a question or a topic that you would like to discuss. I would enjoy that as well.
